As lavish birthday gifts go, it’s hard to top this one: Naomi Campbell received an island vacation home for her 41st birthday from her Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladislav Doronin, according to numerous online reports. It’s shaped like the Egyptian Eye of Horus on a location known as Cleopatra Island in Turkey’s Gulf of Gökova.

Spanish Architect Luis de Garrido, who specializes in sustainable building, designed Eco-House Horus to be completely energy, water, and food self-sufficient. As with his other projects, he relied on careful bioclimatic design to solve efficiency challenges.

The resulting eye-shaped, dome-shaped house has no less than 25 bedrooms and five lounges. If the world ends, Campbell and Doronin and a few dozen of their lucky friends just might be able to survive.

A "vroom" of his own with its stainless-steel counters, halogen lights, and museum-style installations, D.A.D. Garage looks nothing like an everyday, oil-stained garage. Of course not—it belongs to Ralph Lauren, who owns 60 or so of the rarest, most valuable cars in the world, including a 1938 Bugatti coupe, a 1938 Alfa Romeo Mille Miglia roadster, and the world’s only 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” roadster, all in ideal condition and all driven by the designer himself. Lauren shows off his collection of vintage cars to Vanity Fair. His two-floor garage houses Ferraris from the 1950s, ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘90s, Porsches, Aston Martins, Morgans, Jaguars, “a 1938 Bugatti coupe, a 1938 Alfa Romeo Mille Miglia roadster, and the world’s only 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” roadster.”

We want his garage!!!! :-P

John Legend was no stranger to the East Village when he and his girlfriend, model Chrissy Teigen, moved into their pied-à-terre on the Bowery in late 2009. The now-32-year-old singer-songwriter first lived in the area a decade ago, sharing a Second Avenue walk-up with two college buddies from the University of Pennsylvania. But this time, with six Grammys on his shelves (plus five more on ice at the 2011 awards, to be held on February 13), Legend had some specific ideas about the space he would soon call his East Coast headquarters. (When in L.A., he crashes at his manse in the Hollywood Hills.) “Most of the places you look at are cookie-cutter boxes. They don’t have any cool shapes,” he says. “When I was drawing up my ideal thing in my head, it was a unique space in a newer building, with lots of light.” Once Legend found a 1,350-square-foot apartment with floor-to-ceiling windows and soaring downtown views, he tapped Winka Dubbeldam of Archi-Tectonics to do the rest. She had her team knock down walls to open up the living area for entertaining, consolidate a series of hallways to make a master suite with a walk-in closet for Teigen, and create a music room with a Yamaha piano that doubles as a guest room. “We wanted to make it feel homey,” Legend says. “And we’re getting there.”

The Pantone Color Institute has narrowed down their list of "Top Colors For 2011" to only one (predicted to be the hottest hue next year): Honeysuckle

“Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going—perfect to ward off the blues,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

No need to tell Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Julianne Mooreand other celebrities how hot honeysuckle is—they’ve been spotted rocking the pinkish-coral hue on the red carpet all year long.

Honeysuckle is guaranteed to produce a healthy glow when worn by both men and women. It's a striking, eye-catching hue that works well for day and night in women's apparel, accessories and cosmetics, and in men's ties, shirts and sportswear. Add a lively flair to interior spaces with Honeysuckle patterned pillows, bedspreads, small appliances and tabletop accessories. Looking for an inexpensive way to perk up your home? Paint a wall in Honeysuckle for a dynamic burst of energy in the family room, kitchen or hallway.

Betsey Johnson is entering the ranks of fashion designers turned top interior designers with her very first hotel collaboration. Johnson has designed an Eloise-inspired suite for the Plaza Hotel in New York. The fictional subject of Kay Thompson's classic book "Eloise", and later of the "Eloise at the Plaza" movie, has inspired the room's design, which features the character's signature pink and black palette. The two-bedroom suite features even more surprises related to the character, a six-year-old who "moved into" the Plaza in 1955.

The room, geared toward both adults and children, features Johnson's unique, whimsical style to combine the worlds of the Plaza's well-known luxury and her own fashion-forward quirkiness (view photos below).

The Oval Office is nearly as familiar an image as the president himself. But the first lady’s work space is the opposite: rarely photographed or mentioned by the press. Yet it’s a busy, highly trafficked part of the White House, where Michelle Obama makes phone calls, holds meetings, hosts visitors and conducts interviews. As she garners ever more attention for her initiatives, world travels and social engagements, we find ourselves wondering: What does her East Wing office look like?

With the help of White House aides, who shared details about the space and provided photos, POLITICO has assembled a peek at where FLOTUS gets her work done. One thing’s for sure: The work space is a far cry from the Oval Office.

Picture

The first lady, who redecorated the space last summer, has gone for something more casual than the gold tones of the Oval Office: an off-white, overstuffed, living-room-type couch — with floral and other printed pillows — along with two brown-and-cream-patterned chairs. The space is painted a warm, cozy peach color, and the windows feature plantation-style shutters rather than curtains or blinds. In lieu of a personal desk, Obama asked that a round, 10-person table be brought in, so that her staff can gather for meetings.

...aaaaaand NOT is the answer!

Unclear whether joke or tribute, this designer-inspired (???) house dubbed Casa de Louis Vuitton sits in Mexicali, and it has definitely succeeded in drawing international attention (hmmm we wonder why...)!

I can somehow imagine something like this popping up in Kuwait sometime in the future-- maybe to match the LV cars we have roaming around town! :)

Here at The Manhattan we are in LOVE with all things vintage, so we were excited when we found this item! Take a seat back in time with this nostalgic Pan Am airplane window. Interesting and unique, the window is a part of the last existing Pan American Boeing 707, the N880PA, making it a rare and extraordinary collectors piece for pilots, airplane aficionados, world travelers and anyone who keeps their eyes on the skies.
Pan American, a household name in air travel used the Boeing 707 for the first pure-jet service from New York to Paris. This piece of history is considered "green" (reclaimed components), is made entirely of aluminum, includes necessary mounting hardware and instructions, and will cost you $1,500. Purchase your window HERE before they're all booked! :)
