 As lavish birthday gifts go, it’s hard to top this one: Naomi Campbell received an island vacation home for her 41st birthday from her Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladislav Doronin, according to numerous online reports. It’s shaped like the Egyptian Eye of Horus on a location known as Cleopatra Island in Turkey’s Gulf of Gökova.

 Spanish Architect Luis de Garrido, who specializes in sustainable building, designed Eco-House Horus to be completely energy, water, and food self-sufficient. As with his other projects, he relied on careful bioclimatic design to solve efficiency challenges.
The resulting eye-shaped, dome-shaped house has no less than 25 bedrooms and five lounges. If the world ends, Campbell and Doronin and a few dozen of their lucky friends just might be able to survive.

John Legend was no stranger to the East Village when he and his girlfriend, model Chrissy Teigen, moved into their pied-à-terre on the Bowery in late 2009. The now-32-year-old singer-songwriter first lived in the area a decade ago, sharing a Second Avenue walk-up with two college buddies from the University of Pennsylvania.  Betsey Johnson is entering the ranks of fashion designers turned top interior designers with her very first hotel collaboration. Johnson has designed an Eloise-inspired suite for the Plaza Hotel in New York. The fictional subject of Kay Thompson's classic book "Eloise", and later of the "Eloise at the Plaza" movie, has inspired the room's design, which features the character's signature pink and black palette. The two-bedroom suite features even more surprises related to the character, a six-year-old who "moved into" the Plaza in 1955.
The room, geared toward both adults and children, features Johnson's unique, whimsical style to combine the worlds of the Plaza's well-known luxury and her own fashion-forward quirkiness (view photos below).

The first lady, who redecorated the space last summer, has gone for something more casual than the gold tones of the Oval Office: an off-white, overstuffed, living-room-type couch — with floral and other printed pillows — along with two brown-and-cream-patterned chairs. The space is painted a warm, cozy peach color, and the windows feature plantation-style shutters rather than curtains or blinds. In lieu of a personal desk, Obama asked that a round, 10-person table be brought in, so that her staff can gather for meetings.
